Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Huntsville has officially been named the largest city in Alabama. City results from the 2020 Census were released yesterday. Huntsville has grown by 19% since the last census, bringing them to 215,000, while Birmingham lost about 5% and went down to 200,733. (AL.com)
- Redstone Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) has decided to postpone their Oktoberfest celebration. It was supposed to take place September 16-19, but they hope to have a smaller celebration later in the year. (WZDX)
- Tomorrow at 11 a.m., the Trash Pandas are having a grand opening for their new store at Bridge Street! The new location will be larger and located next to REED Jewelers. (WAFF)
- Madison County Schools will begin requiring masks this morning through September 3. The district has experienced a rise in their numbers, but as with other districts, parents are split on the decision. (WAAY)
- The Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE) has started their second year, more than doubling their enrollment from last year. Residential students are being housed at Oakwood University until the new campus at Research Park is completed next year. (WAFF)
