Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Today starts week three of the trial against Limestone County’s sheriff, Mike Blakely. The court will be resolving an issue with evidence produced last week. (WHNT)
  2. Huntsville City Schools is holding a health and safety procedures meeting today at 3 p.m. to discuss masking. Currently, masks are optional throughout the system and they plan for that to continue into the school year. Parents are split on whether masking should be a personal choice or if the system should listen to the latest from the officials that says kids should mask when schools are back in session. (WAAY)
  3. The Senate Armed Services Committee has approved the National Defense Authorization Act For 2022. Senator Tommy Tuberville was able to get several things from the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber’s 2021 Federal Agenda. (Patch)
  4. The Athens-Limestone County Public Library is closed for deep cleaning due to COVID exposure. They will reopen Thursday at 10 a.m. (WHNT)
  5. A WalletHub poll found that Huntsville is among the best places to rent in America. The Rocket City was rated 15 out of 182 cities on the list. (WHNT)
