Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Madison City Schools heard from parents and a doctor at UAB on masking at last night’s meeting. Dr. Ed Nichols, the superintendent, has said he will not reevaluate the mask mandate until after Labor Day. (WAAY)
  2. The North Alabama Zoological Society (NALZS) has decided that the new North Alabama zoo and research campus will be in Limestone County! After the land is purchased, phase one of three for the zoo will take about three years to complete, at which point visitors would be able to go to the first part of the zoo. (WAAY)
  3. I-565 is set to get a $5.5 million upgrade on technology. The improvements will include message boards and fiber optic cables. (AL.com)
  4. After the devastating murder-suicide involving a ten-year-old being allegedly killed by his father, WAAY decided to look into why the custody case that his mom filed to protect him was not heard in time. It turns out, Madison County doesn’t have enough judges to keep up with the growth the county has experienced. The judge in charge of the emergency hearing had no comment on its delay. (WAAY)
  5. Pammie Jimmar has been named Limestone County Chamber of Commerce’s new president! Jimmar’s first day was Monday. (News Courier)
