Today marks 10 years since the April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak in Alabama. 62 tornadoes were confirmed across the state and it remains the deadliest tornado outbreak in the U.S. since 1925. (More details here)

- Two Madison County schools won National Cheerleading Championships over the weekend. Sparkman High School Varsity cheerleaders won two National Championships and Buckhorn High School’s Varsity squad came home with three National Championships. (WAFF)
- The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that Alabama will not lose a House of Representatives seat based on the census, and Mayor Battle said he was proud of how Huntsville turned out to show their numbers. He believes the growth Huntsville has seen played a big part in keeping the state’s numbers where they needed to be. (Huntsville)
- HudsonAlpha has teamed up with medical experts in a virtual forum series to educate North Alabama’s minority groups. According to Madison Neal, they hope to provide insight on the impact of COVID-19 and help people make informed decisions on vaccines. HudsonAlpha says there was a lot of inconsistent information at the beginning of the pandemic and that has caused people to be hesitant about vaccines, but the forum sets out to help open the conversation. - Technicolor Campus will be under new ownership starting in August. Phoenix Investors has announced that they acquired the space and are already marketing it for lease. (PRNewswire)
- Beth Boyer and Garrett Coyne announced the beginning of a new workforce training program they founded called Hatch. They were joined by their board members: Max Grelier, Remy Gross, and Ruth Mercado of RCP Companies, and community leaders Demarco McClain and Joanna White. Their goal is to help train 18-24-year olds to work in the hospitality industry and learn skills that could translate into industry jobs and the ability to get an education while compensating participants $1250 over an eight-week period.
