Huntsville residents and skateboarding enthusiasts from across the region took part in an online meeting on April 20 to discuss ideas for the new John Hunt Skatepark. The skatepark will span three acres between Kids Space and the Championship Soccer Fields at John Hunt Park. There is a tentative opening date of Summer 2022.

During the virtual design input meeting, Team Pain, one of the prominent skatepark design companies in the world, shared vision ideas and took feedback from participants about what the new park design could feature.
The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville is raising money to help pay for the project, which is expected to cost approximately $4 million. An anonymous $1 million donation helped begin the fundraising this year.
