“The first step to providing useful programming for our communities is to offer a comprehensive after-school program,” explains Bernita Reese, director of Huntsville Parks & Recreation. “We don’t want our residents to stress about after-school care. We have created a curriculum that will help the students complete homework, get moving, and try new activities.”
Activities will be tailored to the interests of the children in each recreation center. They include snacks, time to work on homework, physical activity, outdoor play, arts and games.
