Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. After thousands were left without power from an attack on a North Carolina power grid, Huntsville Utilities has attempted to reassure users of safety. They've outlined they have security measures they can't fully release to protect them and spoke about how the April 2011 tornado outbreaks significantly impacted and strengthened these measures. (WAAY)
  2. The City of New Hope teamed up with the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library System teamed up to reopen the New Hope Public Library in a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday. This is a new location, replacing the Elizabeth Carpenter Public Library, and is located at the New Hope City Plaza downtown. Public Library reopens in new location. (WZDX)
  3. Decatur High Head Football Coach Jere Adcock has been named the Coach of the Year for the Alabama Football Coaches Association in the 6A division. He will be honored at their Coach of the Year banquet on Jan. 28 in Montgomery. (Decatur City Schools - Alabama via Facebook)
