Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:
- Twenty students in Priceville High School’s Intro to Engineering Design class will have their signatures sent to the ISS on the next supply mission. The students signed a locker panel that will be used for storage on the station after they created professional drawings of the astronauts’ iconic blue handles. (BollyInside)
- The Rosa Parks Day Committee of Huntsville-Madison County members have spoken out wanting the police chief and Mayor Battle to stop their support of William Darby after his murder conviction. The group was joined by State Rep. Anthony Daniels and the committee will meet with Mayor Battle again next week. (WAAYTV)
- Keller Williams has distributed 10,000 empty bags to residents in the area to ask for food donations as part of Red Day. This is a day dedicated to realty agents to serve their community. This year, Red Day was Thursday, and even though they haven’t finished counting, their item total is expected to beat last year’s 30,000. (WHNT)
- A petting zoo was at Challenger Elementary yesterday to reward students for their performance in the Accelerated Reader program. The school's library media specialist said that since so many kids met their AR goals, it was a good time to reward the students in a way they have not been able to do all year. (WHNT)
- The Botanical Garden announced a collection of interactive pieces that will be at the Garden starting June 11. In an exhibit called “Uncaged: Birds, Nature & You,” patrons can learn about birds with unique and inventive displays around the Garden. (Botanical Garden)
