- Jeff Bezos’ space flight company Blue Origin donated $1 million to Space & Rocket Center under their Club for the Future grants. The money will go toward the museum and space camp. (AL.com)
- A UAH doctoral student, Casey Eaton, has been awarded a $10,000 Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship for the upcoming school year. Eaton is studying systems engineering and is one of 36 women from 22 countries to receive this honor. (Patch)
- After Huntsville’s latest national rankings came out, Mayor Battle is gearing up to work on improving the city. He wants the ranking of the best city to live in to rise up to second or first by next year. (WHNT)
- Sixteen newly graduated police officers are starting their field training as officers for the Huntsville Police Department. They completed 19 weeks of training and will spend the next three months being taught by several different officers in different areas of the city. (WAAY)
- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has proposed a fine for Weaver Environmental Services, Inc. after they failed to inspect a trench on Jeff Road properly, which led to the death of a Huntsville man. OSHA also found that the company failed to protect their employees from being hit by equipment when they were working under concrete curbs. (WHNT)
