Good morning, Huntsville! In today's Daily, we're going to take a look at the Huntsville Police Department's statement about the recent incident, what happened on the anniversary of the June 3, 2020 protest in Huntsville, and what Lee Greenwood is planning in the city.

Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:

  1. The Huntsville Police Department put out a statement on the Internal Affairs investigation that took place after an officer was caught on video stomping a man’s leg multiple times while arresting him. The review found that the officer was not following department policy or his training. (WAFF)
  2. Around 50 people took to the streets one year after the June 3, 2020 protests that ended with officers using what a review considered inappropriate force. The group is fighting for the same thing as they were last year: change in Huntsville. According to Caroline Klapp, two security guards were present but no police officers were seen in attendance.   3. U.S. Representative Eric Swalwell of California has requested more time to serve Huntsville-based Mo Brooks with the lawsuit regarding the January 6 Capitol riot. According to Paul Gattis, Swalwell has hired a private investigator to try and serve the lawsuit, but has been unsuccessful so far. (AL.com)
  4. The City of Huntsville has GIS Program Specialist Nick Haney to develop a web application to view public information that will be updated weekly. This application will show City records and data from the North Alabama Multiple Listing Service. (Huntsville)
  5. The city is already in preparation for a big concert in October. Lee Greenwood will perform at the Von Braun Center and expects 40-50 guests on stage. This is expected to bring in tourism and will continue to strengthen the recovering industry in Huntsville. (WZDX)
