- Mayor Marks of Athens is trying to find solutions to issues with utility payments being late whether they’re postmarked on time or banks are sending checks, mailing has been a bit slow and many are being charged late fees even though they’re doing what they can. The mayor said that if you are experiencing these issues, they’re working to fix them, but you should contact them by email at customeraccounts@athens-utilities.com and not on Facebook. (WAFF)
- Multiple agencies were notified of threats to Priceville Junior High on February 8 at around 8 p.m. The threats were determined to lack credibility and started on Snapchat. (Hartselle Enquirer)
- Madison County Schools is transitioning to masks optional. Their positivity rate has to stay under .5% for five school days and they’ve currently been sitting at .2%. Masks are still mandatory on school buses. (WAFF)
- A pedestrian was tragically struck and killed in an accident involving an 18-wheeler south of the River Bridge on I-65 yesterday. The accident caused major travel delays, but no other information is available at this time. (AL.com)
- Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Huntsville will be giving out food boxes over the weekend. The boxes will be free (WHNT)
