Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Madison County has decided to increase the pay for poll workers in future elections in an effort to attract more workers. It is likely that the midterm election coming up Nov. 8 will be the last election where poll workers will be paid $150 and inspectors will get $200. When the increase goes into effect, poll workers will receive $200 and inspectors will be paid $250. (WHNT News 19)
- Tickets are on sale now for the Wine Down Huntsville event set for Oct. 28 starting at 5:30 p.m. The event’s proceeds will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valley. (WHNT News 19)
- Breeze Airways has announced new routes to and from the Rocket City. Now, you’ll be able to fly Breeze to get to Orlando and Charleston. Flights to Orlando will be nonstop, while flights to Charleston will detour in Orlando but you will not have to change planes during the layover. (AL.com)
- The state’s largest Starbucks is coming to Huntsville! It will be housed at the new Autograph Collection by Marriott on Monroe. The hotel itself is expected to be finished by the end of next year or the beginning of 2024. The proposed Starbucks will have indoor and outdoor seating. (AL.com)
