Madison Square 12 Theatre - Trash Pandas and Havoc Updates

Happy Monday, Huntsville! Are you ready to get caught up on the biggest and best news and events in town today? In today’s Daily, we're going to look at senior citizens that have been without air conditioning for over two weeks, what's going on with the Madison Square 12 theatre, and the Trash Pandas' latest announcement!

Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Multiple residents at Willow Run Towers senior apartments have been without air conditioning for two weeks. According to Caroline Klapp at WAFF, new air conditioning systems are being installed and the entire system has to be down to be able to work on it. The staff said it will be finished soon, but did not give a date. (WAFF)
  2. The trial for Huntsville police officer William Ben Darby will start today, according to Ashley Remkus. Darby is accused of shooting and killing Jeff Parker during a mental health crisis on April 3, 2018, when body camera footage showed Darby allegedly shooting Parker in the face 11 seconds after entering the home.   3. Student teams from all over the Valley met with teams from the rest of the state and Georgia for the Annual Greenpower USA Toyota Classic at Miller Frank Stadium in Huntsville on Saturday. The students build an electric vehicle and are tasked with driving for 90 minutes on one set of batteries and they are judged on the distance they are able to travel, reporter Keneisha Deas said.   4. The Madison Square 12 movie theatre is closed as of today. Touchstar Cinemas said that it will be redeveloped as Touchstar MidCity Luxury Cinemas. It was originally going to open this summer, but was put off due to the pandemic and will now open in 2022. The new theatre will have the largest screen in the state and a full-service bar, and reporter Bobby Stilwell has said that dine-in service will continue. (WHNT)
  5. The Havoc’s regular season is over, and the first round of the President’s Cup Playoffs is finalized. Macon Mayhem will face the Havoc in round one starting Thursday in Huntsville and moving to Macon Saturday and Sunday if a third game is needed. (Sin Bin)
