Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Microwave Dave has a book coming out Friday, but there are tickets available to a release party complete with early access to the book tomorrow! The forward to the book was written by a world-renowned author that has often given Microwave Dave and the Nukes shoutouts, Stephen King. (AL.com)
- By Black Friday, we will know how Alabama’s redistricting will affect the state, including the Madison County area. Legislators will see their represented areas shrink due to the county’s growth. (WAFF)
- There’s going to be a meeting today to figure out ways to make Memorial Parkway safer for bikes and pedestrians. City Council is looking for public input on how to spend the expanded sidewalk budget to help make crossing the Parkway more accessible. (WAFF)
- Yesterday, City Council held a public hearing for the first time since they revealed their initial redistricting plans for Huntsville. Constituents shared that they want more than five districts, and it was pointed out that a neighborhood in Jones Valley was split, which will have to be revised. (WZDX)
- Mike Durant has entered the Senate race for Senator Richard Shelby’s current spot. Durant is a businessman in Huntsville, a Purple Heart recipient, and spent 11 days as a Prisoner of War. (WAAY)
