Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. The Monte Sano Art Festival felt the effects of the weather this weekend. They had to close early Saturday, and cancel altogether Sunday. When I was there, spirits were high and talent was everywhere! Check with your favorite artists because they probably have stock from the festival they didn’t get to sell! (WAFF)
  2. The Madison County Commission approved a spending budget for the COVID-19 relief money the county was allocated. The online form to submit input was only open for two days, which has caused some concern that it wasn’t open long enough, but all but one commissioner approved the budget, which includes replacing tornado sirens, the Space and Rocket Center, and the Safe Drinking Water Initiative. If you want to check out the full breakdown, you can follow the link to WAFF! (WAFF)
  3. Former Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely is set to serve his three-year sentence in Franklin County. It was recommended during his trial that he not serve his time in Limestone County, and Franklin County’s jail is 60 miles away from Limestone’s. (WIAT)
  4. The inaugural season for the Trash Pandas came to a close. Instead of a final weekend full of games, the Trash Pandas had to cancel three games due to COVID-19 issues. (Trash Pandas)
  5. A new company in Huntsville called Phoenix is recycling glass! Since glass is harder to recycle, there will be an $11 monthly fee for individuals and $48 a month for companies. (WZDX)
