- After all of the fundraising done last year to stop the men’s hockey team at UAH, the school announced yesterday that the team had operations suspended. The team has not secured an invitation to any conferences. Should they get an invitation, operations will be reinstated but the team won’t be eligible for conference play for at least a year after they get invited. (USCHO)
- Mayor Battle had lunch with Ben Lovett, a founding member of Mumford and Sons, and Huntsville Venue Group President Ryan Murphy yesterday. Murphy and Lovett are working with Huntsville to build an 8,000-seat amphitheater at MidCity that is set to open in 2022. (City of Huntsville)
- Darren Pullen was charged with the bomb threat calls made to Williams Elementary and Middle and Grissom High School. The sheriff’s office teamed up with the North Alabama FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and the North Alabama Safe Streets Task Force to find Pullen to make sure there was no threat to the schools. - Students at Alabama A&M teamed up with Straight to Ale for the past two years. They have created a beer that will be unveiled along with its can art on May 20. It will be on shelves on May 24 and some of the proceeds will go to Alabama A&M’s programs. (WHNT)
- Nine witnesses were called by the defense in the trial of Officer William Darby before it rested its case Tuesday. Darby was asked to walk the court through the body cam footage when he took the stand Wednesday. Closing arguments will be made today. (WAAY)
