Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Still Serving Veterans has announced a town hall in Huntsville on September 28. According to the organization, suicide is one of the main causes of death in North Alabama veterans, especially ages 65+, so this town hall will be on the topic. (WHNT News 19)
  2. Municipal election results are in! David Little was chosen as the new City Council District 2 Representative to succeed Francis Akridge and Andrea Alvarez won the School Board District 3 spot. (WHNT News 19)
  3. “The Rooted in History: Women as Makers, Creators, Movers & Shakers” exhibit at Harrison Brothers is open through the end of the month. It was originally set to close September 6, but due to high demand for the exhibit, was extended through the end of September. According to Historic Huntsville Foundation Executive Director Donna Castellano, there will be an extended exhibit coming in February. (WAFF)
  4. At the University Of Alabama In Huntsville, 15 students were chosen as award winners for the Summer Community of Scholars Research Poster Session. These students were honored with the Deans and Space Grant Awards. (Patch Press Release Desk)
