- A police officer in New Hope was injured when he was bitten by a dog during a chase. A man and woman fled their vehicle after a short police chase, and the two dogs involved were released from the home the man had gone into. The woman has been apprehended, but the man has not been found. (WHNT News 19)
- City of Huntsville municipal offices are closed today in observance of New Year's Day. You can expect that this closure will affect garbage pickup. Animal services, transportation, court, and recreation facilities and buildings will all be closed today. (City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government)
