Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. After Monday, Hobbs Island Road will be closed to replace the drainage pipe. This is a much needed upgrade and has taken over a month of delays. The hope is that the closure will only last through the second week of February. (WHNT)
  2. Valentina Carlucci, the daughter of Joe Carlucci, was officially named the world record holder for the highest pizza toss for any girl ages 7-9. Joe Carlucci is also a world-record holder and the owner of Valentina’s Pizzeria and Wine Bar. (WAAY)
  3. Home sales in the Huntsville area were up 5.3% last year! Prices in December were also up almost 20% since December of 2020. (Alabama NewsCenter)
  4. The City Of Huntsville, Arts Huntsville, and the National Fitness Campaign have entered into an agreement to have NFC Fitness Court® installations at two locations, Apollo Park and John Hunt Park, and local artists will be competing for the other two locations, California Street Park and Legacy Park.   5. At Thursday’s meeting, the city council voted against traffic intersection cameras. Two members, Jennie Robinson and Devyn Keith, opposed the plan that needed a unanimous vote to be approved and sent to the state level. (AL.com)
