Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:
- A man has been arrested and charged with stealing an ambulance, a car, and a fire truck in Limestone County Sunday morning. Tyrek Hayes was picked up in an ambulance for a welfare check, drove it until it almost went into a creek, stole and totaled a fire truck, and stole a Chevy Equinox that he got stuck. He attempted to steal two more, but was fought off by the drivers of those vehicles. (WBRC)
- Friday night’s fireworks at Toyota Field malfunctioned after the Trash Pandas game, sending one firework into the crowd. Nobody was hurt, but every show is supervised by Madison Fire and Rescue to be proactive. (WAAY)
- The City Of Huntsville’s Green Team is looking for survey responses on the public’s thoughts and ideas on the city’s litter. You can fill out the survey here on their website through August 31. (Patch Press Release Desk)
- Garrison Commander Col. Brian Cozine has taken over as “mayor” of Redstone Arsenal. He is replacing Col. Glenn Mellor, who started serving in the position at the beginning of the pandemic. (AL.com)
- Bridge Street Town Center is now under new management. The company that managed the facility previously, Bayer’s Properties out of Birmingham, has been acquired by Centennial. Ownership has not changed and there aren’t any noticeable changes expected. (WHNT News 19)
