Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. According to Attorney General Steve Marshall, Madison County has now paid the fine surrounding the Confederate monument outside of the county courthouse being moved. The county was fined $25,000 after moving the monument to the Confederate soldiers’ section at the Maple Hill Cemetery. (WHNT)
  2. Between October 4-10, the Space and Rocket Center will host a new traveling exhibition! The Science of Guinness World Records will be in the Rocket City if you’ve ever wanted to know more about world records! (Yellowhammer News)
  3. Calhoun Community College and Drake State are partnering together for a common G.O.A.L. (Greater Opportunity for Adult Learners). This program will offer ESL, GED, and workforce classes to help adults get jobs they are secure in. (WZDX)
  4. One of the three finalists to become Alabama A&M’s new president has dropped out of the race. Dr. Roderick Smothers has removed himself from consideration after receiving a contract extension. (AL.com)
  5. Domaine South is moving! Their new location will be less than 100 steps from the current restaurant and bar downtown, but the move will allow them to serve more customers at a time, so you won’t be turned away from space issues! (AL.com)
