- An Oakwood University student has become the youngest black student to ever be accepted to medical school in the United States. Alena Analeigh Wicker is a thirteen-year-old from Texas that has been earning her undergrad at Oakwood while also earning a degree through Arizona State University. Wicker has been accepted to UAB’s Heersink School of Medicine. (Entrepreneur)
- Regions Bank has donated $30,000 to UAH’s College of Business! The money will fund the new Financial Wellness Program, which will be a three-week course to teach chosen students about financial planning, budgeting, and debt, amongst other things, and students will be given a scholarship at the end of the program thanks to this donation. (Patch)
- Madison County’s Board of Education has rescheduled a meeting set for last night to early August. The meeting was to discuss the desegregation order the district received. (WHNT News 19)
- Dentistry Today in Parkway Place has purchased North Alabama’s first YOMI Robotic Dental System. This is only the 100th in the country, and will be used to give patients better recovery times, less pain, and more safety during procedures. (WHNT News 19)
