Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:

  1. The Huntsville City Council is set to introduce a resolution to release police body cam footage in their meeting Thursday. According to Alex Torres-Perez, the video would likely not be released until after all pending cases are over, the city will need permission from victims or their family, and they may be shortened.   2. The Huntsville Police Department has confirmed that officers responded to the home of Rep. Mo Brooks Sunday afternoon. According to Brooks’ office, Rep. Eric Swalwell’s private investigator trespassed without the knowledge of his wife, Martha Brooks, and refused to leave when asked. The Brooks have filed a police report. (ABC3340)
  3. Alice Barber, a foster mom in Huntsville, is starting Sunshine House. This will be a nonprofit daycare for foster, adoptive, and kinship parents. She is currently taking donations to help get started and to have the ability to offer scholarships. (WZDX)
  4. Over 1000 people have signed a petition to get the Alabama Department of Transportation to install a light at the intersection of Highway 75 and Hustleville Road. According to Tiffany Lester, there have already been seven wrecks at the intersection so far this year. (WHNT)
  5. Lee Greenwood is bringing Paula Deen to the Rocket City! She is the latest of a long list of celebrities coming to Huntsville for the All-Star Salute to Lee Greenwood on October 12. Huntsville is making preparations for this event already and the city hopes it will boost tourism. (ALPoliticalReporter)
