1. Limestone County commissioner Jason Black has announced that he will be running for Alabama House District 2. The seat is currently held by Rep. Lynn Grier, who is not seeking reelection. (Yellowhammer News)
2. As part of raising money for NICU babies, Havoc players are also making blankets! The money raised goes to the Melissa George Memorial Fund at the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. The game is on February 5! (WHNT)
3. Huntsville’s current unemployment rate is 2.3%! Pre-pandemic, that rate was 2.1%, so despite the “Great Resignation,” the unemployment numbers seem to be alright. (WZDX)
4. Main Event has set their grand opening in Huntsville for February 25 at noon! The first 200 people in line will get free laser tag for a year. Main Event will be at Bridge Street. (WAAY)
5. Huntsville Animal Services hosted their first ever Ground Dog Day yesterday! Cosmo, a mixed-breed dog, was supposed to make a prediction, but instead ate out of both bowls. According to Cosmo, we’re set for six more weeks of winter AND the start of spring, which actually isn’t so far-fetched for Alabama. (Patch)
