Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Huntsville has run out of emergency rental assistance funds. Renters that have applied and been approved are currently not able to receive funds, but the city has applied and been approved for funding from the U.S. Treasury Department and that money will go towards rental assistance when that process is over and the funding is received. (WHNT News 19)
  2. Eastbound lanes of Pratt Ave. will be closed today starting at 8 a.m. for the installation of a fire hydrant. The road is expected to be closed for six to eight hours from Dickson St. to Schiffman St. (WHNT News 19)
  3. The Huntsville/Madison County Visitors Bureau has released their 2022-23 Destination Guide. You can view it online here. Even as a resident, this guide can be a helpful reminder of what the city has to offer! (Yellowhammer News)

Patch deal of the day:

Good knives make all the difference in the kitchen, but you don’t need to overpay for them. Seido Japanese knives are made with strong high-carbon stainless steel (high-carbon knives are more durable and usually more expensive) and have an acute 15-degree angle for a noticeably sharper cutting face (most Western-style knives have edge angles of 25 degrees). For a limited time, Patch readers can get a 5-piece Seido Japanese master knife set for 71 percent off. At just under $70, this chef-quality set is perfect for any home cook and would also make a great gift for the holidays.
