Here are the top 5 stories today in Huntsville:
- ALDOT has pretreated roads in the North Alabama area in anticipation of the possible winter weather today. If you’re traveling, make sure to have essential supplies in case you get stranded. (WHNT)
- There will be three warming centers open around Huntsville starting today at 2 p.m. and staying open until Saturday at 9 a.m. Public transportation will go to these centers while they’re open, and you will be required to follow COVID protocols. (WAFF)
- Columbia High School, JROTC, and the Cadet Leadership Team held a canned food drive! They were able to collect 2300 cans of food that were donated to the Downtown Rescue Mission. (Columbia High School)
- Many schools across North Alabama have closed, delayed, or switched to e-learning ahead of the possible weather today. A few have also already announced they will continue this through Friday as well. (WAAY)
- Emergency rooms are being overwhelmed with individuals with mild possible COVID symptoms wanting to be tested. In order to alleviate some of the extra wait times and stress being put on the resources they have, if you have mild symptoms such as a sore throat, contact your primary care physician. (WHNT)
