- There was a second fire at the Amazon Fulfillment Center last night, just a week after the first fire. After last week’s fire, half of the facility remained closed but employees returned to work despite the lingering smell of smoke. Employees were sent home. (WAFF)
- Violet Edwards, Madison County District 6 Commissioner and University Of Alabama In Huntsville alumna, has been named the winner of the 2022 UAH College of Business Alumni of Achievement Award. Edwards is the first black woman to serve as a member of the county commission and is known for her selfless nonprofit work. (Patch Press Release Desk)
- The Athens Boys and Girls Club is asking that the community wears gold or yellow tomorrow (Wednesday, October 5) to support Karson Collier, a 7-year-old in the community and one of the club kids. Karson is currently battling Rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer. (City of Athens)
- The new Athens Buc-ee's is hosting a hiring event ahead of its planned opening next month. The event will be October 11-13 at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Decatur. You must register ahead of the event. (AL.com)
