Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Raytheon Technologies has partnered with Downtown Rescue Mission to create a community garden. Residents of Downtown Rescue Mission and Raytheon employees are working side-by-side to grow foods like tomatoes, cilantro and green peppers. (WZDX)
  2. The Huntsville Hospital System has seen an increase in COVID patients from my last update on July 24, from 78 patients in system hospitals to 129. 36 of those patients are reportedly in the ICU. (WHNT)
  3. Madison County Virtual Academy is renovating and getting its own building! This will accommodate the growing demand for this learning format. (WHNT)
  4. The Stone Anderson tribute concert that was planned for Saturday has been postponed due to COVID numbers rising. Dave Anderson is working with Mars Music Hall on rescheduling when things are safe again. (AL.com)
  5. Huntsville High School's marching band has had to make some adjustments to their summer camp to combat the heat. In the mornings, they have been marching with large water bottles instead of instruments in the mornings, going in and practicing their instruments in the afternoon, and putting it together in the evenings when the heat is less intense. The band director, Stuart Tankesley, has been taking the opportunity to teach his students how important healthy habits are for your body's performance abilities. (WAAY)
