Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:
- A heat advisory is in effect today from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Madison, Limestone, and Morgan Counties are among the ones included in the advisory. It is predicted to reach a heat index value of 105-107, and any strenuous outdoor activities are recommended to be postponed to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. (NOAA)
- Alabama Wildlife Rescue teamed up with the HPD, Huntsville Fire and Rescue, and Huntsville Animal Control to rescue a raccoon that had made its way up a light pole on the side of I-565. A decision was made to close both lanes until they could rescue the animal to prevent it from falling and causing an accident. The raccoon was caught, fell several feet when it escaped the net, and was recaptured and taken to an emergency vet hospital to be evaluated. (WHNT)
- Huntsville native Dorothea “Coco” Fletcher was sued by Tina Turner for being too close to the real thing. Fletcher has been a Tina Turner impersonator for 20 years, and has been doing a show in Germany, where the lawsuit ended in Fletcher’s favor. The show will be in Huntsville Wednesday, when Fletcher comes home after years in Germany. (WHNT)
