First, today's weather:

Rain in the morning. High: 73 Low: 46.

Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Trader Joe's has announced their opening date, and we won’t have to wait long! They will open their doors next week on September 30! The opening ceremony will be just before 9 a.m. with festivities right after and continuing throughout the day! (WHNT)
  2. Jackson County Christmas Charities has opened their application through Friday! If you are or know of a family that could use some help with celebrating the holiday, applications are at DHR. Don’t forget the necessary paperwork. (WAFF)
  3. Madison City Schools is back to masks being mandatory. Superintendent Nichols has been advised that he may not be able to make the change without Board approval under possible interpretations of policy, so until they have a chance to vote, the mandate stands. (WHNT)
  4. The Rocket City is going to get a new sandwich shop next year! Jon Smith Subs was founded in Palm Beach County and will show up on County Line Road early 2022. (AL.com)
  5. Looks like the Church Street construction has been extended again to the end of the year, but there’s nobody to blame for it. Between the crazy weather we’ve seen in the past few months and there’s a slight hold up with utilities. Just hold on though, because those five lanes are in sight! (WAFF)
