Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:
- According to John Few at The Madison Record, a trench collapse at John Hunt Park has killed one city employee and injured two others. Several local agencies responded to help the rescue efforts, and the employees were freed within minutes of the trench collapsing. (themadisonrecord.com)
- Alabama A&M has announced that masks will be mandated at athletic events for the 2021 season. Face shields without a mask will not be allowed, and bandanas will not be considered a mask. Disposable masks will be provided at the gate to individuals without a mask. (WAFF)
- The Huntsville Police Department is in the process of trying to hire more officers to keep up with the growth of Huntsville. They hope to add another precinct, which would help the call volume not stretch current precincts too thin. (WHNT)
- Huntsville Hospital is making an effort to make having to travel back and forth for cancer treatments a little bit better. They have a program to give gas cards to patients or caregivers to help offset one of many stressful financial challenges. (WAFF)
