Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. A UAH student-built payload has made it into space and back for the first time in almost a decade. A payload is used to measure data, and in this case was about the size of a dinner plate. It joined 32 other student projects aboard a Terrier-Orion Rocket out of Virginia. The students were part of the Terminus Spaceflight Research Group, which is supported by the Space Hardware Club. (Patch)
  2. Over $20,000 worth of guitars was stolen from the legendary Huntsville Music shop, The Fret Shop. The 13 guitars were taken at a time when the cameras were inoperable, so there are no leads currently. If you see anything suspicious or if you see any of the guitars described, make sure to reach out to the HPD. (WHNT)
  3. According to the city, construction on Research Park Blvd is set to end this month. The construction is currently between Old Madison Pike and 72. (WAFF)
  4. 30 cats and kittens were seized in a Huntsville home last week. The animals were found during an eviction, and are now at HAS to be adopted. (WAAY)
  5. There was a power outage at the Huntsville Ice Sports Center over the 4th of July weekend that caused melting on the ice arena. The center was closed Tuesday and is expected to reopen today. (WAAY)
