Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:
- Huntsville Animal Services has over 80 dogs in their care right now, and if they aren’t adopted soon, it is likely the shelter will have to start euthanizing for space. Volunteering and fostering are huge ways to help get to know a dog’s attributes, which makes it easier to get them adopted. (WZDX)
- The complaint against the Madison County Sheriff’s Office filed by Kayla White, the mother that found her son killed by his father in a murder-suicide last August, found no policies had been violated. White has now called for changes to the policies to avoid this happening again. (WAAY)
- Drake State has launched a new workforce program called Connecting Students with Industry (CSI). It will connect students to jobs in manufacturing technology to allow students pursuing a two-year technical associate degree to learn skills specifically for the workplace and get paid experience. (WZDX)
- Joseph Pelfrey was named the Deputy Director of the Marshall Space Flight Center. He started at Marshall in 2004 as an aerospace engineer before moving up the ranks, and most recently, served from 2020-2022 as the manager of the Human Exploration Development and Operations office. (Manchestertimes)
- Democratic U.S Senate candidate, Dr. Will Boyd, has announced a meet-and-greet in Huntsville Thursday, April 28 at the Omega Center. The event is entitled “A Conversation with Dr. Will Boyd,” and will be streamed online for those unable to attend in person. (WHNT)
