Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:
- At the city council meeting Monday, the City of Madison approved a resolution that will allocate up to $300,000 for upgrades to Toyota Field. The upgrades will keep the field up to date with the new standards for the MLB and will include a female changing room and restroom facilities, upgrades to the dugouts, and a clubhouse commissary. They are expected to be completed by the start of the season in April. (WAFF)
- A grant from the U.S. Department of Education will allow UAH to work with Madison County Schools, Huntsville City and Madison City Schools to help English learners in the area. The “Designing Instruction for Academic Literacies” (Project “DIAL”) gives teachers the chance to attend UAH to earn their master’s degree towards helping English learning students. (WHNT News 19)
- After over 20 years as a staple community event, WhistleStop has been permanently canceled. According to EarlyWorks Executive Director Bart Williams, the museum has decided that in order to move to the future hopes of the museum, they will be focusing on other ways to grow. (WHNT News 19)
