Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:

  1. The AMBER Alert for a 16-year-old female (minor's name is withheld) of Lacey’s Springs was cancelled around 5 p.m. yesterday. The girl was found safe, and the man accused of abducting her is in custody of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. (WAAY)
  2. All three school systems in the Huntsville-Madison County area will be able to offer free breakfasts and lunches this summer. According to Kelly Kennedy, students that are part of the school-based learning programs or pick-up programs will be able to be fed for free throughout the summer! (WZDX)
  3. Jaden Coolie, an 11-year-old from Huntsville participated in the “Every Child Has a Story” program and published his book “The Galaxy Warriors.” Grace Campbell said that the book was re-published this year by Demico National. (WAAY)
  4. There has been a recent uptick in sightings of alligators in Huntsville. City leaders want residents old and new to be aware so they do not approach any wildlife, but especially alligators. (Huntsville)
  5. Madison County has officially set a date to open applications for Emergency Rental Assistance. Madison is way behind the curve on this, since most places in Alabama started in March or April, but according to Zak Sos, the Madison County Commission has said this delay is due to their inexperience with handling this sort of program.
