Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. I-10 eastbound was shut down on Thursday due to multiple wrecks. The accidents occurred between Theodore Dawes Road and Rangeline. The latest report indicates that 11 separate collisions occurred and 35 vehicles were reportedly involved. The crashes are currently under investigation by the Mobile Police Department. (NBC 15 WPMI)
  2. The Mobile Police Department will reportedly be heavily monitoring school zone traffic. The Mobile County Public School District resumed classes yesterday and the department is prioritizing student safety. The department will be monitoring school zones for at least the next few weeks as drivers adapt. Residents are asked to include school traffic in commute time calculations. (WKRG News 5)
  3. Mobile students attending the University of Alabama will now be able to use their chosen or preferred name on online student IDs. According to the university, students have been able to use their preferred or chosen names on physical cards for a while. The online option is now available due to a software update. (AL.com)
