Here are the top three stories in Montgomery today:

  1. Representatives with the March of Dimes lobbied and marched in Montgomery on Wednesday. The state of Alabama received an "F" on the organization's report card that measures maternal health, infant mortality rates, and ethnic disparities. Representatives with the organization want to see immediate actions taken to improve this score. (WTVM9)
  2. An anonymous donor has pledged to pay the $25,000 fines attached to renaming streets in Montgomery. Though the city has been wanting to rename certain streets that are named after confederate leaders and Klansmen, the Alabama Memorial Preservation Act of 2017 attaches heavy fines to the renaming efforts. The donor has also agreed to pay future fines as they arise. (WSFA12 News)
  3. Darby Wright IV, 55, has been charged with arson in the second degree. Investigators responded to the 1600 block of Vista View Drive to discover a fire that was allegedly started by Wright. Thankfully, nobody was hurt during the fire. (Alabama News Network)
