Here are the top 3 stories today in Montgomery:
- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office recently reported a body was found on Interstate 85 between Waugh and Shorter. Workers with the Department of Transportation were the ones who initially found the body and contacted the Sheriff's Office. The department is waiting on an autopsy and an investigation before releasing more information. (WSFA12 News)
- The Alabama State University in Montgomery is partnering with Moderna to host the first HBCU Medical Symposium. The event will gather experts to discuss the pandemic and future needs. Anyone may attend the event with community leaders and advocates being encouraged. (WSFA12 News)
- An Alabama legislative committee in Montgomery has advanced a bill that would make the use of abortion pills illegal. The House Judiciary Committee approved the bill that would make prescribing, dispensing, or mailing the abortion pills a felony. Approximately 40 percent of abortions in the country are performed through the use of abortion pills. (WVUA23)
