Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:
- An Auburn woman has been charged in the arson investigation at First Baptist Church Montgomery. According to court records, 27-year-old Xiaoquin Yan has been charged with arson second-degree. The church's Lead Pastor Mark L. Bethea reported that four blazes were set inside the main sanctuary, in the historic Stakely Sanctuary, and in some of the church’s office spaces. Yan was taken into custody Monday and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility. (WFSA)
- A body found in Montgomery County on Sunday has been identified as a Lee County man reported missing in July. 56-year-old Jimmie Lee Table disappeared on Jul. 25. He was last seen that Sunday leaving his home in Beauregard and was never heard from or seen again; his SUV was later found abandoned near the intersection of Alabama Highway 10 and Alabama Highway 108 in the Pike Road area. On Sunday afternoon, Table's remains were discovered near Highway 80 East and Highway 293 in east Montgomery County — several miles from where the abandoned vehicle was discovered. (AL.com)
- Montgomery police have identified the man shot and killed on Tuesday morning as 33-year-old Montgomery man Terrell Hardy. Police opened a homicide investigation shortly before 4:30 a.m. when they and fire medics responded to the area near Taft Street and Malvern Street, near West Fairview Avenue. The circumstances surrounding the homicide remain unclear; no motive or suspect has been determined. (WFSA)
