🌱 City Must Pay Fine For Removing Confederate Name + 2 Shootings

Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:

  1. Last month Montgomery removed the Confederate president's name from an avenue and renamed it after a lawyer known for his work during the civil rights movement. Now the Alabama attorney general says the city must pay a fine or face a lawsuit for violating a state law protecting Confederate monuments and other longstanding memorials. Montgomery last month changed the name of Jeff Davis Avenue to Fred D. Gray Avenue. (6 KFDM)
  2. Two people were critically injured in two separate shootings in Montgomery on Thursday morning. According to Montgomery Police Captain Tina McGriff, the first shooting happened at 4:15 a.m. in the 700 block of North University Drive. At the scene, officers and fire medics found a female victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound. (12 WSFA)
  3. The search is on for a Tallassee woman who went missing in Montgomery early Friday morning after being discharged from a hospital. (12 WSFA)
  4. The City of Montgomery will once again present a Christmas Parade this year on December 10th. (Alabama News Network)
