Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:
- April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the NHTSA has launched a $5 million media campaign to help reduce distracted driving. The campaign will be targeting drivers between the ages of 18 and 24. The NHTSA is encouraging Montgomery parents to speak with their children about the dangers of distracted driving. (WSFA12 News)
- A new Montgomery soul food restaurant opened its doors on Troy Highway over the weekend. Lionel Jay’s is owned by first-time restaurant owner Lionel Huffman. The restaurant features various soul food options and is currently looking for staff. (Alabama News Network)
- Central Alabama Crime Stoppers has reported that Montgomery's 9-month-old Comarion has been safely recovered. An amber alert was issued on Monday notifying the community that the child had gone missing. Dominique Goodson, the child’s biological mother, reportedly took Comarion while she did not have custody.
