Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:
- The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division (ALEA) has investigated a total of seven traffic-related fatalities for the 2021 Thanksgiving holiday travel period. They found there was a slight decline from 2020 when there were eight and down from the 11 reported in 2019. (WSFA)
- The City of Montgomery has announced its "12 Days of Christmas" celebration, which features events through New Year's Eve. The celebration will include Montgomery's favorite traditions with new activities. The City's Department of Cultural Affairs will present six events. (Alabama News Network)
- Alabama representative Terri Sewell (AL-07) spoke on the House floor on Wednesday to observe the 66th anniversary of the arrest of Rosa Parks, who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus on Dec. 1, 1955. Rep. Sewell is an original cosponsor of the Rosa Parks Day Act, a bill that would make Dec. 1 a federal holiday in her honor. (Birmingham Times)
