Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:

  1. Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth, a foster care non-profit, launched a campaign to give foster children a "Home for the Holidays," and is asking Montogmery residents for help. More than 6,000 children are in foster care in Alabama. More and more young people are entering the foster care system each day, and there is a critical need for additional foster families to meet the needs of these youth in our community. (WSFA)
  2. The Department of Justice announced today that it has awarded more than $17.5 million in grants to support the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program. Funding will support efforts across the country to address violent crime, including the gun violence that is often at its core. (STL.News)
  3. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Secretary Hal Taylor announced the recipients of the Agency's Lifesaving Award and Certificates of Recognition for outstanding professionalism and skills displayed through a heroic act that preserved the life of another and for outstanding professional skills while representing the Agency.
