First, today's weather:

Clouds giving way to some sun. High: 73 Low: 58.

Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:

  1. AAA Alabama will be providing free Vehicle Identification Number etching for Montgomery residents this week. The etching is to act as a theft-prevention service by discreetly marking commonly stolen car parts using a chemical stenciling method. The etching makes it harder for thieves to resell the auto parts. The service will be at the AAA office on Vaughn Road this Tuesday starting at 9:00 a.m. (WSFA12 News)
  2. Montgomery teachers will be receiving their largest pay raise in a generation after Alabama lawmakers approved the education budget last Wednesday. The bill is now on Gov. Kay Ivey's desk for her signature. Raises will begin at 4 percent with increases for years of experience. Some teachers may see raises of nearly 21 percent if they have over 35 years of experience. 3. Temperatures in the Montgomery area will be increasing this week. Residents will be experiencing highs into the upper 70s and lower 80s. Click the following link for the full weather report for this next week. (WSFA12 News)
