🌱 Halloween Shooting Victim Dies + COVID-19 Memorial Walk

Here are the top stories in Montgomery today:

  1. The Montgomery Police Department says that a 34-year-old Elrico Briggs, who was shot on Halloween, died of his injuries on Thursday. Police are now conducting a homicide investigation into the shooting. The shooting took place at 12:50 p.m. in the 100 block of South Hardt Drive. (Alabama News Network)
  2. The Montgomery Botanical Gardens is planning a COVID-19 Memorial Luminary Walk for Dec. 5, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Gardens in Oak Park. This event will honor area residents who died from COVID-19 from 2020 to 2021. Guests will have the opportunity to place the names of loved ones inside the luminaries, which will remain lighted until Dec. 8. (Montgomery Independent)
  3. The Alabama Securities Commission has issued a cease and desist order against 97 fraudulent crypto trading platforms, all owned by Sir Philip Zuka. (WSFA 12)
  4. The final day for the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless winter drive was Saturday, Nov. 20, where they collected blankets, coats, and other winter wear. (Alabama Public Radio)
  5. WSFA-TV has donated thousands of items, including footage from the civil rights era, to the Alabama Department of Archives and History. (AP News)
