Here are the top stories today in Montgomery:
- A Montgomery group will hold a blanket drive to help the homeless. The Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless will be collecting blankets, coats, hats, scarves, and other winter clothing at various locations on Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a drive at the Coalition's offices, Vaughn Park Church of Christ, and the Montgomery location of Dreamland BBQ. - A man was convicted and sentenced for the 2015 murder of a Montgomery rapper. Marquise Flynn was charged with the killing of Sylvester "Fat Head" Morris, and he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. (WSFA)
- The Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless is hosting Not-A-Bed Sleep-Out, inviting the public to spend the night in a parking lot to raise awareness of homelessness and for them to get a better understanding of what it's like. (WSFA)
- Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed joined Alabama News Rising to discuss his plans for a 100-million dollar facility, new job opportunities, and future investments. (Alabama News Network)
- Alabama miners are objecting to state troopers providing escort duty for miners replacing them on the job, and they have been on strike in Montgomery since Thursday. (WBRC)
