Happy Thursday, people of Montgomery! Here's everything you need to know going on locally today.
- Montgomery Police are investigating a shooting that left two people wounded, including a juvenile who is in life-threatening condition. The incident took place Tuesday evening in the 3200 block of Virginia Pines Lane. A juvenile male, whose name and age were not released, was transported to an area hospital, and a man suffering non-life-threatening injuries was later found at another local hospital. No other information about the shooting was immediately clear. (WSFA 12)
- A former Alabama journalist has announced his run for the Alabama Public Service Commission Place 1, a position currently held by Jeremy Oden. Stephen McLamb, who worked for WAKA-TV in Montgomery in the mid-'90s, is running as a Republican and advocates for expanding the use of solar. McLamb has worked as the administrative coordinator for the Marshall County Sheriff's Office since 2019. (Alabama Political Reporter)
- WSFA 12 News has partnered with the Alabama Department of Archives and History to help preserve and make accessible to the public much of the station's historic footage, which spans the decades from the 1950s to the early 2000s. (WSFA 12)
- The 97th annual Turkey Day Classic kicks off tomorrow at Alabama State University. This year's celebration will include fan-favorite events like the annual Alumni Brunch, the TDC Concert, and the TDC Parade in downtown Montgomery before the showdown between the ASU Hornets and the Tuskegee University Tigers.
