Here are the top three stories in Montgomery today:
- A new resolution passed by the Montgomery City Council will launch a messaging campaign meant to discourage panhandling. Central Alabama Community Foundation will coordinate the campaign through text messages and signage. Residents will be able to message "GIVE MGM" to 44321 instead of handing money directly to panhandlers. (WSFA12 News)
- The Montgomery Police Department has arrested a suspect in a recent Montgomery church burglary. William Michael Pearson, 37-years-old, was identified through an anonymous tip given to Crime Stoppers. He is in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on a $65,000 bail amount. (WSFA12 News)
- Tomorrow (Apr. 22) is Earth Day, and the Montgomery Zoo is celebrating with a special Earth Day Safari! From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Zoo will host an educational event about how simple daily habits can impact our environment. Get your tickets at montgomeryzoo.com. (City of Montgomery)
