🌱 Montgomery Schools Go Virtual + Bama Lanes Shooter Bail Raised

Here are the top three stories today in Montgomery:
- As COVID cases continue to rise in Alabama, all Montgomery Public Schools will be moving to remote learning through Friday, Jan. 21. Several area school districts across the River Region have made similar announcements. Earlier in the week, the Alabama Department of Public Health reported a fivefold increase of COVID-19 cases in public schools statewide. (WSFA 12 News)
- The suspect in Sunday's Bama Lanes shooting was quickly back in court after initially making his $270,000 bond hours after his arrest. On Thursday, Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey petitioned the court to raise Tory Johnson's bond to $2 million. During the hearing, Montgomery Circuit Judge Tiffany B. McCord raised it to $860,000. (WSFA 12 News)
- A new candidate has entered the race for a seat in the Alabama senate. Business owner and campaign trail newcomer Norman Horton is now seeking the District 31 Senate seat; he runs opposed by state representative Mike Jones Jr. and Coffee County Commissioner Josh Carnley.
