Here are the top stories in Montgomery today:

  1. Montgomery is home to two of the top 10 best high schools in Alabama. Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School of the Montgomery County public school district came in at No. 4, and The Montgomery Academy, a private school, was No. 8. A company called Stacker used data from school ranking website Niche to compare public and private high schools across the state based on student-teacher ratio, user reviews, and other factors that indicate academic excellence, incredible track records, and future success of students.   2. A $5,000 reward is being offered for help identifying a female child whose skeletal remains were found in Alabama in 2012. Central Alabama Crime Stoppers announced the reward Thursday as investigators continue their search for the girl's identity. Authorities have previously said the child showed signs of physical abuse and was likely the victim of a homicide. (U.S. News & World Report)
  3. Alabama military veteran Reuben Redd, the grandson of a World War I veteran, shares his connection to Montgomery's new statue, "The Return from the Argonne," which was unveiled on Thursday to pay tribute to the state's WWI veterans. (WSFA)
  4. Some Alabama retailers are still being hit by the labor shortage, meaning fewer employees that can help local shoppers this holiday season. (WFSA)
